NEW BRC AND IFS CERTIFICATIONS FOR IL GRANAIO DELLE IDEE

We are proud to start 2020 with a major achievement: Il Granaio delle Idee has obtained two of the world's most important food certifications, BRC and IFS. Following the audit carried out in November 2019, the independent certification body CSQA, a leader in the food and beverage sector and the first Italian body accredited in the food sector, confirmed that Il Granaio Delle Idee is able to:

1. Provide safe products that comply with contractual specifications and legal requirements; 2. Strengthen and promote food safety throughout the supply chain, in full compliance with BRC and IFS quality standards.

Il Granaio delle Idee's ratings

The CSQA inspector responsible for the audit assessed approximately 350 requirements and found no major issues. Il Granaio delle Idee therefore obtained these certifications with the following ratings:

- “Grade A” for the BRC standard - “Higher Level” for the IFS standard

These certifications are internationally recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), an international initiative whose main purpose is to strengthen and promote food safety throughout the supply chain. This achievement confirms our company's reliability and demonstrates to our customers the utmost professionalism with which we control the quality of our products and select our suppliers. It also reflects months of exceptional commitment by all our staff to improve our work culture!

BRC Global Standard for Food Safety: what it is and what it recognizes

The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety was established in 1998 to ensure that private-label products are manufactured according to clearly defined quality standards and in compliance with minimum requirements.

It can be compared to a “contract” linking qualified suppliers to the retail company.

It is one of the food safety standards recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), whose main purpose is to strengthen and promote food safety throughout the supply chain.

Recently, GFSI has succeeded in getting some international retailers to accept the concept of interchangeability between GFSI-recognized standards, thereby reducing the duplication of compliance certifications for standards that are very similar to one another. Implementing BRC is therefore a necessary prerequisite for exporting products and is a recognized means of assuring a company's reliability.

The standard applies to food processing and preparation companies and identifies the specific elements of a management system focused on product quality, hygiene and safety, using the HACCP methodology as a reference for planning and implementation.

IFS – International Food Standard: what it is and what it recognizes

The IFS (International Food Standard) aims to support the effective selection of private-label food suppliers for large-scale retailers, based on their ability to provide safe products that comply with contractual specifications and legal requirements. It is a recognized framework both in Europe and worldwide and applies to food companies supplying retailers with private-label food products.

It is one of the food safety standards recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), an international initiative whose main purpose is to strengthen and promote food safety throughout the supply chain.
